May Favorites

May 31, 2016
Today is the last day of May, which means my monthly favorites. This month, for me, signifies the end of the school and the beginning of summer. It was a great month full of experiences like prom, being elected secretary of my school, and an amazing trip to the lake with friends/fellow student government officers! Because I had such a fulfilling month, I'm super excited about all of my favorites!

Fashion
Revice Denim: As you may have seen in this post from earlier this month, I purchased a pair of jeans from Revice Denim and fell in love with them. I'm not going to go super into detail here, so make sure you check out the post!

Beauty
NYX Lip Products: This month I've become absolutely obsessed with NYX lip products. I currently own the Sheer Gloss in Brilliant, Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Peach, and Butter Gloss in Vanilla Creme Pie. I wore the Butter Gloss to prom, and I wear the Sheer gloss most days! The products are all great prices and cruelty-free, so you should definitely try them out.

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick & Lip Liner: So as you may have seen on Twitter (@laurennalstonn), I finally got my Kylie Jenner Lip Kit! I ordered the shade Posie K, and after a bit of frustration with USPS, it is in my possession. I'm low-key obsessed with it, so look for a post all about it very soon!
Food
Veganism: As of May 20th, I am vegan! I don't want to talk about it a ton right now because I'm not super informed about everything, but I have stopped eating dairy, eggs, meat, and other animal products. I've also gone cruelty-free with all of my beauty products. If you want to do this as well in support of animal rights, you can click here for a list of companies that are cruelty-free and here for a list of companies that test on animals

Other
Music: I love Chance the Rapper's New Album Coloring Book, and my favorite songs are Blessings and Angels. I'm also still listening to 6-Inch from Beyonce's Lemonade and all of my favorites from Kanye West's The Life of Pablo.

Books: This month I read Where'd You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple, and I really enjoyed it. I'm not going to do a book talk on it because I don't have tons to discuss, but if you want to keep up with what I'm reading, you can follow me on Goodreads.

TV/Films: If you didn't know, I'm obsessed with everything superheroes. I wash almost all the Marvel & DC tv shows on air right now, and I've seen all of the MCU movies multiple times. Of course, I saw Captain America: Civil War and loved it! As far as television, the Bachelorette is back and I'm so excited that this season she is JoJo!

That is all for my monthly favorites, I hope you all enjoyed them! Leave a comment letting me know what your favorites are. Stay tuned, xo Lauren.

Beauty Hack: For Acne

May 26, 2016
All of you, I hope, use toothpaste to brush your teeth. But a few weeks ago, a cluster of pimples appeared on my chin and I turned to the internet to look for easy ways to make them disappear within a couple days. I found tons of websites and other blogs telling me that toothpaste is a great, easy remedy for acne.

Even though I was skeptical, I slathered toothpaste on my face and went to sleep. Sure enough, when I woke up my acne had reduced and was significantly less swollen. All I had to do was wash off the dried toothpaste, so the process wasn't messy at all. I highly recommend this technique to any and everyone who wants to reduce their acne quickly without any unnecessary chemicals.

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it. Stay tuned, xo Lauren.

Prom 2016

May 22, 2016
{me and my bff}
Last night I had my first prom! I didn't have a date, so I went with a group of friends and I had such a great time. Aside from dancing the night away, I genuinely had a good time spending the day getting ready.

To detail my day for you, I woke up at 7am to wash my hair and I let it air dry as I got my nails done. I was at the nail salon at 9:30am and I got a manicure and pedicure with Essie's Ballet Slippers. By 10:30am, I was headed back home to blow dry my hair because it was still a bit damp and I wanted it to be straight so it would be easier to blow dry. After blow drying my hair I shaved my legs so that they would be super smooth and sleek with my short dress.

I then headed to Target to pick up 3 things: false eyelashes, lip gloss, and mascara. By the time I returned from Target it was about 1:15, so I ate lunch and chatted with my sister until 2:30 when she started on my hair. I wanted it to be completely straight so she did that for me and then my mom did a thin braid on the right side and I pinned back the left side. I wanted a simple hair style and to have my hair out of my face because I knew it would be hot and sweaty after an hour.

After finishing my hair I watched a few makeup tutorials and browsed Pinterest for inspiration. I ended up using the Two Faced Cosmetics Classic Look from the Natural Eyes palette. It's impossible to see in the photo, but the look is a more dramatic version of the shimmery look I usually do. At this point, I had my sister apply the Ardell Natural False Eyelashes, but they did not look natural on me and I looked like Yzma from the Emperor's New Groove. I decided to take them off because I was running low on time and didn't have time to try to cut them and reapply. Instead, I used Essence Volume Boost Mascara which I had just purchased and ended up loving. For my lips, I used NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Creme Pie. It close to my natural lip color and super moisturizing which I love.

I put on my dress, which is from LuLu's, and accessorized with my Rose Quartz Kendra Scott earrings as well as studs in my 2nd piercing. My shoes were from David's Bridal and they compliment my dress well without taking away from it.

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it. Stay tuned, xo Lauren.

Revice Denim

May 17, 2016

One Monday evening, while I was sitting in the doctor's office waiting for my name to be called, I was browsing Instagram (follow me @laurennalstonn) when I discovered the account @revice_denim. If you know me, then you know that jeans are my absolute favorite thing to wear. I wear jeans at least 3 days a week because for me they are the most comfortable thing ever. I'm always looking for new brands that could fit my body better, because as you may have seen in my Finding the Perfect Skinny Jean post from last year, it's super hard to find jeans that fit my body shape.

I ordered the main skinnies/dirty vintage wash in my normal size, and to my surprise and joy, they fit me perfectly! I feel great about these jeans because are high quality, a good price($58-78), and the perfect fit. Aside from the fact that they are about 3 inches too long (which can easily be fixed by a tailor), it's like they were made for me. Try out Revice Denim, and let me know what you think of their jeans!

Another reason I fell in love with Revice Denim is their packaging. My package came in a brown paper bag type envelope that was printed with the Revice logo, mission, and social media handles. The details on the packaging add so much to the quality of the product, so I wanted to make sure to mention that aspect of the item.

If you've ever tried Revice Denim, leave me a comment on which pair of jeans is your favorite so I know which ones to get next. Thanks for reading. Stay tuned, xo Lauren.
