Prom 2016

May 22, 2016
{me and my bff}
Last night I had my first prom! I didn't have a date, so I went with a group of friends and I had such a great time. Aside from dancing the night away, I genuinely had a good time spending the day getting ready.

To detail my day for you, I woke up at 7am to wash my hair and I let it air dry as I got my nails done. I was at the nail salon at 9:30am and I got a manicure and pedicure with Essie's Ballet Slippers. By 10:30am, I was headed back home to blow dry my hair because it was still a bit damp and I wanted it to be straight so it would be easier to blow dry. After blow drying my hair I shaved my legs so that they would be super smooth and sleek with my short dress.

I then headed to Target to pick up 3 things: false eyelashes, lip gloss, and mascara. By the time I returned from Target it was about 1:15, so I ate lunch and chatted with my sister until 2:30 when she started on my hair. I wanted it to be completely straight so she did that for me and then my mom did a thin braid on the right side and I pinned back the left side. I wanted a simple hair style and to have my hair out of my face because I knew it would be hot and sweaty after an hour.

After finishing my hair I watched a few makeup tutorials and browsed Pinterest for inspiration. I ended up using the Two Faced Cosmetics Classic Look from the Natural Eyes palette. It's impossible to see in the photo, but the look is a more dramatic version of the shimmery look I usually do. At this point, I had my sister apply the Ardell Natural False Eyelashes, but they did not look natural on me and I looked like Yzma from the Emperor's New Groove. I decided to take them off because I was running low on time and didn't have time to try to cut them and reapply. Instead, I used Essence Volume Boost Mascara which I had just purchased and ended up loving. For my lips, I used NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Creme Pie. It close to my natural lip color and super moisturizing which I love.

I put on my dress, which is from LuLu's, and accessorized with my Rose Quartz Kendra Scott earrings as well as studs in my 2nd piercing. My shoes were from David's Bridal and they compliment my dress well without taking away from it.

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it. Stay tuned, xo Lauren.
