Exploring the City | New York City, NY

May 26, 2015

Saturday was jam-packed with activities, so I'm glad to be back in the car writing this post. We started at about 8:30 AM with breakfast at the hotel cafe. I had an apple cinnamon pastry, yogurt with granola, and a chai tea latte!

Next we took the metro to FAO Schwarz and explored the gigantic toy store! My little brother loved this and bought a bunch of toys! If you have time while in NYC I would definitely pop into the iconic toy store. We then walked a few blocks down to Dylan's Candy Bar, I place that I've been dying to go. The candy store was huge, by far the biggest one I've ever seen, so of course I bought a bag of candy.

Before making our way to the Guggenheim, we stopped at Sprinkles cupcakes. It wasn't that long after breakfast, so we each got a mini cupcake, no surprise, I chose red velvet! They were so good, one of the better cupcakes I've had, but I wouldn't say they were better than Georgetown. We made our way to Central Park where we walked down to the Guggenheim, the walk ended up being much longer than we thought, so we hailed a cab for the last 12 blocks. Walking through the park was so nice and refreshing, we definitely want to come back next time and lay on a picnic blanket.

When we arrived at the Guggenheim, unfortunately a lot of the exhibits were closed, but we did see some pretty cool sculptures and paintings by Cezanne and Gaugin. We then walked up to the Met, where we obviously took a picture on the steps (Queen B and Little J)! The Met was great, I saw a bunch of works that I love including the Monet that I saw in Washington D.C.! Following the Met, we took a cab to Tavern on the Green, a restaurant located in Central Park. Tavern on the Green is a great restaurant, with a glass wall as well as patio seating to allow for a light and open atmosphere. I definitely recommend it if you are in NYC.

Following Tavern on the Green, we took the metro to Grand Central Terminal and walked around the main concourse. Grand Central did not disappoint, it was exactly like the movies! After walking to the hotel to change, we took the metro down to Times Square where we went to Madame Tussaud's wax figure museum. We saw all of our favorite celebrities, including my all-time favorite, Taylor Lautner! I couldn't resist getting a photo! We also saw the Obama's, the Kennedy's and the Avengers! For dinner, we walked around the corner to John's Pizzeria, where we enjoyed classic NYC pizza! Lastly, we made our way back to the hotel and turned in for the night!

I enjoyed this trip so much, so hopefully we'll be back soon to do all the things we missed this trip! I hope you all enjoyed this post!

Museum Hopping | New York City, NY

May 24, 2015

This year, my family is spending Memorial Day weekend in NYC! We drove up on Friday, and we're driving back down on Monday. We've planned out full schedules for Saturday & Sunday, and I'm super excited to share them with you all!

This (Saturday) morning we started with the Empire State Building at 11:30 AM. We went to the 86th floor where we saw a view of the city, it was incredible! Before the tour we rode a skyline simulator, which I'll admit had me a bit shaken up.

After the Empire State Building we had lunch at Heartland Brewery, where I ordered the macaroni and cheese. Heartland was so good, and although it was my first time, I recommend it to all!

We then proceeded to shopping on 5th avenue, and continued on to MoMA.  I loved the Museum of Modern Art way more than I thought I would, as I saw all of my favorite artists such as Roy Lichenstein and Paul Cezanne!

Following MoMA, we did a bit more shopping and then headed back to our hotel for dinner. Dinner was at The Capital Grille, where I ordered mozzarella tomato and shared a side of lobster mac and cheese (SO good) and creamed spinach. For dessert my mom and I split a creme brûlée! It was getting late by this time so we returned to our hotel for sleep!

I had such a great day in New York today, and I cannot wait for tomorrow! Stay tuned!

A Pop of Color

May 22, 2015

Now that spring is in full swing and summer is quickly approaching, I've gotten used to warm weather, dresses, and tank tops! Where I live though, the morning and afternoon temperatures don't like to coordinate. The other day it was about 70 degrees, but raining which left a bit of a chill in the air.

For days like these I like to wear a thin sweater and shorts, to keep my upper body warm yet not overheated later in the day when it gets warmer. One of my favorite outfits like this is a simple cream sweater with brightly colored shorts! This sweater has been featured on my Instagram many times, because I love it so much! These high waisted shorts from Express are also a favorite of mine, the color + the texture makes for a unique combination.

Little Black Dress

May 19, 2015

Good morning! This past weekend I did some shopping with my family and friends for summer clothes! I didn't get a whole bunch, but I am super excited about what I got.

I tried out this new store at the mall called Garage! Their window display was super cute so I walked in and picked out a few items to try. This black dress is one that can be worn causally for school, or dressed up for a party or graduation. I wore it yesterday to school with my Jack Rogers and monogram necklace!

Color the Hill 2k15

May 14, 2015

About two weeks ago I participated in an amazing event called color the hill! To my friends and I, Color the Hill is a fun opportunity to support the Be Loud foundation, and hang out together. The race was a ton of fun, and I highly encourage you to find something similar to this where you live!

Graduation

May 11, 2015

College graduation season is here, which means the end of the year for us high schoolers is near as well. This past Mother's Day weekend my family went to my cousin's graduation.

It was such a blast to see her graduate, and also a little bit emotional (my mom cried)! The dress I wore is one that I Instagrammed a few months ago, and also wore to my winter formal. Winter formal was a crazy night full of last-minute wardrobe malfunctions, and we were running late, so I wasn't able to take any nice pictures. I hope you all enjoy my dress and this post :)
