This year for spring break my family (minus my sister, she's in Europe!!) decided to drive up to Washington D.C. We left at about 1 pm on Saturday and arrived in D.C. at about 6:30pm!
We woke up at about 7:30am on Sunday, and got ready for breakfast. We ended up having brunch at Old Ebbitt Grill which was only about a minute walking from out hotel. I ordered the Apple French toast, and it was delicious (sorry, I forgot to snap a picture before I ate it)!
It was super cold when we finished eating, so we drove by the White House. We found a place to park (which took about 30 minutes) and walked up to the fence to see it up close.
You may have seen this pic I snapped on Instagram:
After the White House, we parked our car back at the hotel and walked a few blocks to the museums. My brother wanted to go to the Spy Museum, so we spent a couple hours there learning about the history of espionage! I was super excited for the American Art Museum, as I've been taking art history at school. The American Art museum is connected to the National Portrait Gallery, which houses portraits of the U.S. presidents. Currently, they have an amazing collection by Elaine de Kooning; I'm in love with her JFK portraits! If you find yourself in Washington D.C., definitely check out this collection; it will be in the portrait gallery until January 2016!

When we were finished shopping, we walked back up to the hotel and caught the end of the Duke game, GO BLUE DEVILS!! We then headed to dinner at Matchbox, and had an amazing pizza. My family of four shared a large Matchbox Meat, and had the trio sampler for dessert. We definitely were not disappointed with our meal! We came back to the hotel, and went to sleep at about 10:30pm!
Above is the outfit I wore yesterday!
