Happy Thursday! Today is the day that I hear back from the last of the colleges I applied to, so tonight I'll start the pro-con list of all pro-con lists. It's been easy to feel nervous the past few weeks as decision date approaches, but I've been trying to keep calm and stay focused. If you're also a senior waiting to hear back from colleges (or in any tough situation), remember that when you put good vibes into the universe you're going to get them in return.

The other day I went to Happy + Hale for the first time with my friend Kammy. I ordered the dragonfruit bowl and it was delicious! It's such a great place to be even for 5 minutes because everyone is so happy and genuine and fun. I brought my sister back two hours later to take these pictures and I fell in love with it all over again. The second time, I ordered a "hale mary" smoothie and once it again it was delicious. I totally recommend it if you're ever in downtown Durham! I hope you all are having a fabulous day and stay tuned for my spring break trip recap!

Today is my first official day of spring break and I could not be more excited! I have a couple of fun things planned for the week and I cannot wait to share the photos with you. These pictures are from lunch last Friday, I took my sister to one of my favorite places: Tru Deli. It's located in Chapel Hill right off Franklin Street so if you're ever in the area make sure to stop by! I love it because although it's a sandwich and salad place, there is a lot of versatility. Also, it's vegan and vegetarian options. My go-to order is a wheat wrap with lettuce, banana peppers, oil & vinegar, and lots of avocado!

Now on to my outfit. My sunglasses and top are both from one of my favorite shops: Lulu's. A ton of their pieces have been featured here before, but this post is dedicated to them! I picked out this top a few months ago when the lace up trend was at its peak. I love that this top is so easy to wear and fun while remaining trendy and comfortable. Maroon is a color that I don't often wear, but I love it paired with black jeans and ankle boots for a night out. These sunglasses were super inexpensive yet they have a high-quality look and feel, they are definitely one of my spring break staples this year. In photos, they have a very cool, distinct look and whenever I wear them I feel like such an Instagram girl!

This past weekend, one of my good friends Kyle threw a surprise party for his mom's 50th birthday! I've known Kyle and his family since elementary school, so it was great to be a part of the celebration! The venue was TOPO (or Top of the Hill), a Chapel Hill classic, so the attire was casual but nice (no ripped jeans here). It's been unseasonably cold here in CH, so I opted for a sweater and skirt combo.
This sweater is super trendy because of the lace-up detail on the back and the dusty rose color. I got from a local Fedora store, but there are plenty of similar options you can find online. My skirt is an old one I found in my sister's closet, so I don't know the exact brand but it's a basic black circle skirt. For shoes, I went with a pair of black heeled ankle boots that I also have had for forever. It was a bit too chilly for bare legs so I also wore a pair of black sheer tights to complete the look. This is a different style from what I usually wear, but it was perfect for the occasion. Talk soon, xoxo Lauren.

Review: Kylie Cosmetics Kylighters

March 13, 2017
Happy Monday everyone! If you've been reading for a while, you know that I'm a pretty big fan of Kylie Cosmetics. I have and love her Posie K Lip Kit, as well as a few of her other products. Recently, I've been obsessed with highlighters so when she announced that "kylighters" were her new product I was too excited!

Kylie Cosmetics Kylighter in Salted Caramel

I knew the second I saw the collection that 'Salted Caramel' was the one for me. It's the perfect gold to compliment my skin tone as well as the champagne/golden eyeshadow looks I typically wear. My favorite thing about the product is that it can be subtle or glam depending on how much you apply. Most days I just want a light glow, nothing too extreme. But there are times when I want to go all out and this works for that as well. The other major thing I like is that you can only really see it from a certain angle, not head on. I'm not a fan of highlighters that are blatant and obvious when I'm looking straight at someone.

The other two factors I want to talk about are the packaging and price. I don't love the packaging, it's the waxy plastic that feels super cheap. I do, however, like the fact that it has a mirror. At $22, the price point is mid-range for this type of product and for the quality I think it's fairly priced. The lower price point compensates for the packaging. That's all for today! Comment your favorite highlighter! Xoxo, Lauren.

Book + Movie Talk: Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

March 9, 2017
Review and comparison of Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall book and movie

Hello everyone! I'm back today discussing one of my all-time favorite books: Before I Fall. I've been a huge Lauren Oliver fan since middle-school, not only because we share a name, but also because she's an amazing writer and her words have a way of taking me out of reality and making me think. This past weekend, I went to see Before I Fall in theaters with one of my good friends Allie, so I wanted to share my thoughts on the book and movie separately and also comparing the two!

Casual College Interview Outfit

March 6, 2017
Good morning! It has been a while since my last post and I'm going to blame that on the fact that my laptop died (that's not the whole reason but let's roll with it). I also just realized that I was wearing a very similar outfit in my last post (again, let's roll with it). This top I've been wearing so often lately, mostly to interviews and such. In the last month, I've had 3 or 4 interviews for colleges and internships and jobs and this top is easily dressed up or down which is perfect. If you've been reading for a while, then you I'm all for anything that's off-the-shoulder. When I friend of mine gave me this top from Bevello, I knew it would become one of my wardrobe staples.
Obviously, every interview is different. Most of my interviews so far have been casual, meeting at a diner or the library. For these more relaxed interviews, I want to look put-together without dressing up too much. I typically opt for a nice top, nice jeans (no rips, holes, or cuffs) and a cute pair of heels or booties. I try to go for dainty accessories to compliment the look, like my star sign necklace. This outfit is effortless and easy to wear. I hope you enjoyed! xoxo, Lauren.
