Before: I first read the book in March of 2013, on the 9.5 hour plane ride to Belgium, and yes, I cried. NO SPOILERS, but it has a really sad ending, and soon after reading I recommended it to my family who then read it and had a similar reaction. A few months later I found out they were making it into a movie and I was over the moon, I started my own fantasy cast and everything ( it consisted of AnnaSophia Robb as Hazel, and Daniel Sharman as Augustus). When I saw the cast list I was surprised, and a little bit disappointed. Shailene Woodley is a great actress, don't get me wrong, but I cannot see her playing a character like Hazel Grace Lancaster. I hope I cry and the story is as powerful on-screen as it was in the book.
After: I will admit, I shed quite a lot of tears during this movie. I still don't agree with the casting choices, but the actors did deliver and gave quite the performance. The movie stayed amazingly true to the book, and on screen it was just what I hoped for. Although it is a sad story, there is a little bit of comedic relief which made me happy. There isn't much more I can say, except that you should definitely go see The Fault In Our Stars!
I hope you all liked this post, as it is different than what I usually do! Leave me comments on your thoughts about The Fault In Our Stars!
