Biker Chic at the NC State Fair

Today's outfit is so far out of my comfort zone on so many levels. I'm not quite sure how to define my style, but I'd characterize it as feminine, preppy, and simple. This outfit, however, is almost the complete opposite of that and somehow I still love it!

Over the weekend, I went home to hang out with my family and have a long needed break from D.C. since midterms are in full force. It's the mid-October and already so cold so I wanted to do my favorite "fall" activities like watching The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and going to the NC State Fair! The state fair feels like a fall essential that I missed so much last year that I intentionally planned my break around it this year. We saw the animals, did some people watching, and of course, we ate fried food (I opted for deep fried oreos and my sister went for a classic funnel cake)! It was quite the night that is well documented with over 100 photos on my camera roll.

Onto my outfit, I've been planning a super fun outfit ever since I bought these jeans from Revice Denim. I've been a big fan of Revice jeans for over two years because their main skinnies used to be my perfect pair of jeans. I still own a pair or two of them, but I decided for my next purchase I wanted to branch out and go wild! The Dream Fit / Blue Division stood out to me because the two-toned denim is a big trend right now and they're straight leg not skinny, which I never wear.

Styling the outfit, I wanted to do something a bit more simple and classic on top. A white tee is a safe but sure option and the tee in the front makes it a bit for interesting — I've been doing this with all of my tees lately! This leather jacket belongs to my sister and it ended up being the perfect accessory. Paired with the distressing of the jeans it gives the look a rougher feel but the simplicity of the jacket saves the look from being too much. A jacket like this one is also great for taking a look from day to night, before I dinner I was just wearing the jeans and the knotted tee but when the sun went down the jacket added more of a statement and protected me from the cold weather.

Finally, I wore my favorite pair of Adidas on the bottom. The straight-leg cut of the pants doesn't work too well with boots and wearing sneakers ensure comfort when exploring the fair for hours! It's nearly impossible to see my jewelry, but I kept my everyday jewelry to make the look a bit more feminine and "me". This means a monogram necklace, pearl studs, and a gold watch. A belt would also look great with this look because the knotted tee shows off the waistband and breaks up the outfit.

I love switching up my look when I'm at home because I feel so comfortable and free! Not that I wouldn't wear this at school, but there's something extra fun about trying new things at home! What do you think of this look? I'd love to read your thoughts in the comments. Stay tuned, xx Lauren.
