The Magic of a Sweater Tank

Now that I'm all moved in and settled at school...happy FMOC (first month of classes)! This year, move-in was easy and kind of fun. Having classes with my friends has made for a comfortable and relaxing transition and I've been counting down the days until this outfit made its debut!

Well, more specifically this sweater tank! I've had my eye on this sweater for a couple weeks and when J.Crew had a major sale I purchased it immediately. The second I tried it on, I knew I wanted to wear it on my first day of classes, but my sister did not understand the appeal of a sweater tank. "The sweater material makes it too hot for the summer but the tank top style makes it too cold for the summer," she said (cue me rolling my eyes). In theory, she has some good points but when you actually wear a sweater top magic happens.

The knit material lets in air and catches a breeze so well. This probably has to do with the tank style - your arms and shoulders are out so there's so much air circulation going on. Even if you do sweat, the sweater material doesn't show sweat at all! I love this specific tank top for the color. It's the perfect sky blue and I chose it because I'm trying to deviate from my usual white and black, but now I'm obsessed with it!

It's September, so even though it feels like it's a million outside in D.C. I'm thinking about fall. Sweater tanks are such a great summer to fall transition piece. You can wear with cuffed jeans and sandals or ankle boots and a cardigan! A couple of years ago, I shared another one of my summer to fall wardrobe transition pieces. I don't have that many yellow pieces in my closet, but similar tones like forest green and cranberry red are easy to wear and fun to mix with different textures! One of my favorite pieces I purchased recently is a maroon skort for going out at night.

What are your go-to pieces to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall? xx, Lauren
