Simple, No-Makeup Fall Makeup Look

September 29, 2018

I've completely given up on wearing makeup during the week. I'll do a full glam for going-out nights, but day-to-day I've been spending all of my getting-ready time on my skincare routine. It was peachy keen until I caught myself in the mirror the other day and realized that no amount of eye cream and moisturizer can hide the mid-term-season exhaustion from my face. So, I created the perfect, easy no-makeup makeup look to get me through the weeks without looking like a zombie.

The key to a natural, no-makeup look is the skin. Foundation is the first thing I notice on someone's skin, so when I want to do the bare minimum and look like I'm not trying I opt out. If you want to cover up spots or an uneven complexion, I'd recommend a tinted moisturizer — I've heard good things about the Laura Mercier one. If you are in desperate need of coverage, you can use a concealer to cover spots, but I prefer to let my skin breathe!

The second thing I notice - and I always do - is eyebrows. As someone with natural bushy and unruly brows, I've learned to love a brow brush and gel. I use a mascara testing wand  (you can buy them on Amazon or take them from Sephora) to brush and style my brows, then set them with the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel!

The lashes are key to opening up the eyes and looking more awake. I always apply primer first, to help my lashes grow and boost the intensity of my mascara. The Honest Beauty Truly Lash Mascara is dual ended, so it's both a primer and a mascara!

The final step is optional, but I can never resist. I always apply just a little gold highlighter to the high point of my face for an extra glow. My go-to is the Kylie Cosmetics Kylighter in Salted Caramel because it looks natural and you can easily apply it without going overboard.

Finally, the for lips I usually just apply my Burt's Bees chapstick. If they're pale looking, I'll do a light coat of the NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake but too much lip gloss clashes with the rest of the look.

Now that I've shared this with you, it's time for me to get out of bed and get on with the day! What are you up to this weekend? xx, Lauren
