Dorm Tour - Georgetown University

September 19, 2017

Welcome back! I want to start off by saying that I have been planning this post for what feels like forever and it's just now going up...over 3 weeks into the school year. To be completely honest, my dorm isn't done yet, I'm still ordering photos and figuring out how I'm going to fill the 4 bookshelves above my desk. But all the big things are set up perfectly and my dorm room is just now starting to feel like home!

My theme for my room was Georgetown + stars and I'd say I more or less achieved it. I wanted to stick with navy, gray, and white with silver accents because I knew that would limit my search and make decorating a lot easier. When I saw these star string lights in Target I knew they were perfect and much more me than the other versions of string lights that I saw. I had originally ordered a navy bed set from Bed Bath and Beyond, but it didn't come in time which ended up being a blessing in disguise because I love this set from Lauren Conrad's Kohl's collection even more! The silver pillow I had from home, but I've linked some similar items below!

If you've been reading for a while, then you know that I'm in love with Monet (I've seen his work in NYCLondonMontreal, and D.C.). I stumbled upon a poster sale on campus where all prints were only $9 and they had such a wide variety, from Ariana Grande to The Flash to the periodic table. I searched for something with blue that would tie my room together, and then I saw this Monet print and I knew it was the one!

As for my closet, it's a tall wooden wardrobe (pretty boring but not too ugly). I needed an over the door mirror, but when I was at Bed Bath and Beyond they only had the ones with a whiteboard on the other side. I had to make it work, so the outside is a mirror and I use the whiteboard on the inside to write down the 5-day forecast so I have a vague idea of what I'm going to wear during the week.

One of the hardest areas to decorate was the desk. I don't actually do homework there (I've transformed it into my vanity) but the hard white-ish plastic is impossible to get rid of. I got a bit creative here and used black and white striped washi tape to cover the silver border around the cork board. I was super lucky in that the washi I had was the exact width of the metal I was trying to cover. All of my pictures are 3x3 without a border and they are from FoxPrint.

Thanks for reading! Leave a comment letting me know what your favorite part of my room is! Stay tuned, xx Lauren.
