New Year's Eve 2016

January 1, 2017

Today is the first day of 2017 and I couldn't be more excited! 2017 is going to be a year of change for me, from graduating high school to turning 18 to starting my college, wherever that may be. 2016 was definitely a year to remember, the good and the bad, but I'm ready to turn the page and begin the next chapter of life. To ring in the new year, I went to First Night Raleigh with my sister and one of my best friends, Allie.

It was the first time I'd ever been and I loved it! First Night Raleigh is a family event in downtown Raleigh with live music, food vendors, games, and rides. When we first arrived, Allie made us all wear tiaras to get in the NYE spirit, and I have to admit it was super fun. Then we rode the ferris wheel and the view of Raleigh was amazing. We walked and talked until about 11, when we entered the stage area to wait for the countdown to begin. I had a great time dancing and not caring who saw, plus it was super cold so I does doing anything I could to stay warm! When there was 1 minute until midnight, the acorn lowered and we all screamed the countdown. When the clock hit zero there were some great fireworks and we all enjoyed for a few minutes before heading back to the car. First Night Raleigh was a such a fun way to ring in the new year, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area! I hope you all had a wonderful NYE with friends and family. Stay tuned, xo Lauren.
