What I Got For Christmas 2014

December 26, 2014
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas, or Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa etc. My family and I had a great Christmas day! As every other fashion blogger/vlogger, I would like to share with you all what I got for Christmas! Disclaimer: This is not an attempt to brag, many people enjoy these types of posts.

The first thing I opened was this snow globe from my brother. A few weeks ago I saw it in Home Goods and commented that it would look great in my room! I love this snow globe because accompanies my room perfectly, and it's subtly festive!

This popular mug from Anthropologie was a gift from my sister, she knows that I've been wanting a special mug for a while now, and that I had my eye on this one.

This gift was totally unexpected, from my parents. My mom knows I'm trying to redecorate my room, and my color scheme is white and gold, so she got this for me from Home Goods.

As mentioned in my Holiday Wish List, I've been lusting over these earrings for a while now. I was ecstatic to open these, so much so that I wore them all day.

Last but not least, are these amazing riding boots. In my Holiday Wish List, they were the number one item I wanted. When I found out that "Santa" had left them under the tree I was overjoyed!

I also received a few other stocking stuffers and gifts from my friends. I had a great Christmas this year, and I am so unbelievably grateful and appreciative of everything that I have. Hope you're having a great holiday season♥︎

Getting in the Holiday Spirit

December 22, 2014

I'm not sure about you all, but this year it was rough getting into the holiday spirit. It wasn't until about Friday that I finally got excited for Christmas! Now I'm full swing in the holiday mood, so I wanted to share with you the things I did to get excited!

1. Watch a TON of Christmas movies!
The Polar Express is my all-time favorite Christmas movie, I watch it every year, sometimes even 2 or 3 times! In the past week, I've watched what feels like every Xmas movie on Netflix, and I have 2 or 3 really good ones to recommend! Christmas with the Kranks, 12 Dates of Christmas, A Christmas Kiss, and Holidaze (I know, that's a lot of movies) are all great movies to watch with friends!

2. Decorating the Tree/Holiday DIY
Last week we decorated our Christmas tree, and it was nostalgic pulling out some of my favorite ornaments. We also tried a new DIY for our front door, instead of using a wreath.

3. Holiday Cooking
Every year my family makes a bag of treats for our teachers for the holidays, this year we made double ginger cookies, peppermint fudge, and chocolate & peanut butter acorns.

4. Holiday Themed Photos via Social Media
Looking at all the Christmas-y photos on Pinterest, Tumblr and Instagram adds a little bit of excitement to every day! Here are some of my favorites!

I hope you all enjoy this post and it helped get you into the holiday spirit if you weren't already there! Happy Holidays♥︎

Christmas Tree Shopping

December 18, 2014

This past Friday my family finally got our Christmas tree, and it was also the day that my school played our rival in basketball! It was a great game, not only because we won, but the theme was Christmas sweaters!

Sweater Weather

December 14, 2014

The other day it was rainy and wet, but I was wearing one of my favorite sweaters so I decided to take some pictures. I had to borrow my sister's rain boots, they matched my sweater so perfectly!

3 Tips for Staying Stylish At School!!

November 6, 2014

If you have a very busy schedule (like me), it can be hard to stay motivated to get up and put together a presentable outfit during the school year.

Hello friends! I hope you all are having a good day, and because I'm stuck at home sick I decided to do another post this week! As you've probably guessed from my past two posts, autumn is my favorite season of the year; therefore I'm going to be doing a lot of autumn themed posts, including the Sweater Weather TAG!

October Recap

I've been doing a bunch of fun autumnal things in the past few weeks, and I wanted to share them with you all, and get us all in the fall spirit!

(Me and my friends before paddle boarding)

1. Scarowinds and White Water Rafting!
A few weeks ago I went to Scarowinds, with a group of my friends through Leader's Club at the YMCA! Carowinds is an amusement park, and near Halloween they turn it into a "haunted" amusement park. I'm usually not a huge roller coaster person, but during this trip I broke out of my comfort zone and rode of bunch of rides I normally wouldn't! I also enjoyed a super scary haunted house! During this trip we also went white water rafting at the U.S. National White Water Rafting Center in Charlotte, NC!  It was super fun doing a bunch of outdoors-y activities such as white water rafting and paddle boarding! Paddle boarding was my favorite, and a lot harder and more fun than I though it would be. I'm typically not the most athletic and adventurous person, but I'm trying to change that and paddle boarding was a great experience!

2. Football Games and Powder Puff!!
This year my school participated in Powder Puff Football, which means that the girls form their own team and play a game of flag football against another grade. I'm a sophomore, which means my team played the freshman, and although we were ready to destroy them, we lost 21-28. Aside from cheerleading and a season of middle school softball, I've never really been on a sports team, so going to practices and playing on the field was super exciting for me! My school has also been doing a great job in football this season, we were undefeated until a few weeks ago, and attending the games with my friends has been a blast!

3. Pumpkin Carving!
Yesterday, my brother, my sister, and I carved Disney themed scary pumpkins. I attempted a Jack Skellington pumpkin, although it didn't turn out so great, and my siblings did Boogey Man pumpkins that are spectacular! I've been looking forward to decorating pumpkins all month, and it was a great family activity to do!

4. North Carolina State Fair!
The State Fair is a must fall event for any native North Carolinian! I love going to the fair for the experience, the food isn't great and I'm not sold on the safety of the rides, but playing games and going up on the Ferris Wheel with my friends is something I will never get tired of!

5. Fall Food!
Between Stouffer's Mac and Cheese (a recent favorite), Pumpkin Pancakes, and Hot Chocolate I've been loving the crisp weather and the flavors it brings!

There's still a good month and half left of fall, and I plan to do so many more autumnal things, maybe I'll do a part two of this post when the season ends! I've yet to do Halloween, Fall Pie Baking, Apple Picking and a plethora of others! Leave me a comment letting me know some of your favorite fall things to do!

Sunday Six

Hello :) Today I'm sharing with you six things I've been loving this past week.

How To: Monogrammed Binder Cover

August 25, 2014

THE SCHOOL YEAR HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED! For me, today is the first day of school.
With the rush to make sure I had my first day outfit done and I had all of my school supplies, I forgot to make a cover for my binder, yikes! So here I am at 8PM Sunday night trying to figure out cute covers that use only black and white because of course, my printer is out of color ink. Luckily, my binder is pink, so a simple black and white monogram will definitely work!
Trying to make these last minute with no help would be such a pain! I figured out a super cute, easy, and free way to make monogram binder covers.

1. Find a monogram you like. For interlocking vine these are great, and these are good for circle monograms.

2. Save your monogram as a .PNG image. For the interlocking vine you will need to zoom out on Adobe Reader and screenshot the last page after you enter your initials.

3. Decide on what two colors you want to use. Go to PicMonkey.com and use the overlay option to change the background color. Make sure the image is saved as a .PNG for the overlay feature.

4. Go to pixlr.com/editor and use the bucket fill option to change the color of the script/letters. You may have to do this in separate parts if your monogram is not all connected.

5. Save the monogram with image size 850 x 1100. This is the size of a normal piece of paper and ensures that your monogram will be the right size.

6. Save your image and print it out! (I made mine black and white, but will definitely be using this pink one once I have colored ink!)

Agenda Organization - Kate Spade Agenda

August 21, 2014

I start school in 4 days!! I can't wait, so in the meantime I wanted to do another back-to-school post! My new Kate Spade Agenda and Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens are the two things I'm most excited about, so I figured why not feature them?

I like to color code my agenda to keep everything I have going on organized. In my agenda I use brown for appointments and family events. I use red for things regarding my internship, dark blue for volunteering and student government, and orange for things going on with my friends. I use light blue for school events.

At the beginning of the year I give each of my classes a color to write my homework in as well as use for my notes. I write my homework in order by class, or write no homework so when I get home I know what homework I have in each class. I also write down all club meeting information on the bottom line.

Being organized is super important to me, and during the school year my agenda is pretty much the only thing that keeps me sane!

What's In My Backpack!

August 18, 2014

I don't know about you, but for me school starts in 1 week!!  Although this summer has treated me well, I'm excited to jump back into the school year!  I love reading back-to-school posts and seeing the school supplies all my favorite bloggers use, so today I present to you what's in my backpack!

In my backpack, I always keep a book to read after tests, or if I have any free time. I'm currently re-reading The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall.  It's an easy read perfect for the end of summer.  I also have two school essentials -- my TI-84 calculator and index cards!

This school year, I'm most excited about my new pens and my new agenda! Last year, I used a large Lilly Pulitzer agenda, and I absolutely adored it. My only problem was the spirals, they got caught in everything and caused my agenda to tear. This year, I purchased a medium Kate Spade agenda, it's a size smaller than last year and has the spirals on the inside. I figured a smaller size would be easier to fit in my backpack once I have all my textbooks! The  monogram on my agenda is from PreppyGlam. My new favorite pens are the Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens. I purchased mine via Amazon, but they are also available at Target. I'll admit they were a bit pricey for pens, but hopefully they will last me the majority of the year. I went for colorful pens because I'm a big fan of color-coding my agenda and highlighting important notes. This year I'm going to try a 5 subject notebook where I will store notes and handouts for most of my classes.

Occasionally I bring my laptop to school, but only when absolutely necessary, because I would hate for it to get damaged or stolen. I ordered the TKOOFN hard pink case via Amazon, and I love it! I take water to school with me everyday to make sure I stay hydrated, my favorite water bottles are Camelbak. My Vera Bradley lunch bunch was purchased 3 years ago, it is extremely good quality and it's the perfect size for packing my lunch. Last but not least, my Land's End backpack was purchased about 2 years ago. While it's been great, it's obviously been worn so I ordered the North Face Jester II. I'm super excited to start using my new backpack once it arrives!

Book Talk: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

July 28, 2014

For my first lifestyle post I want to introduce a new "Book Talk" series. I've always loved reading, and this is a fun way for me to share some of my favorite reads with you all! Also, you are welcome to send me any book recommendations in the comments and I'll try to read them. My latest favorite read is Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. (don't worry, no spoilers)!

Krass & Co.

July 19, 2014

I've been missing from my blog for the past month, mainly due to the fact that I've been at tennis camp! I've never played, and I'm so glad to have started because I love it! Before now I never did anything specifically athletic, so I needed new sportswear, and Krass & Co. was my first choice!

Book + Movie Talk: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

June 15, 2014
So, The Fault In Our Stars just came out in theaters, and everyone's been talking about the movie, and reading the book if they haven't already. I wanted to share with you some of my thoughts before and after I see the movie!

Revlon ColorBurst Matte + Lacquer Balms

May 31, 2014

After seeing them on blogs upon blogs, I headed to Target and scoured the aisles for the Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer and Matte Balms. I not only love the sleek packaging, but I'm also a fan of the "crayon" style lip pencil.

January Favorites

Snow Days

January 23, 2014

Where I live, the weather is pretty crazy, some days its 70 degrees and the next day its a 2 hour delay at school because it's too icy! That being said it rarely snows, and when it does it's more ice than snow. I thought that the pathetic excuse for snow on my back porch today would be the perfect setting for an outfit!
